This is the intro to my BTS series for all you youngins starting high school, but mainly college.
To kick off the series, I've compiled a list of backpack essentials that I found useful my first two years of college.
Now, let's get into the items I pack.
Planners, journals and notebooks. If you don't own a planner, go buy one. If you don't want to buy one then make one. I used to carry a planner around to make it seem like I had my life together. Now, I actually write things in it and my life is a little less messy. I also recommend you go and get a few notebooks as well. Having your notes in a notebook makes it easier to go back and find everything for when you have finals. Lastly, having a journal handy is a good idea, especially if you get random bursts of inspiration and want to write down ideas.
Laptop, earbud headphones, phone, chargers. If you're in college I definitely recommend bringing your laptop to school. If you have long breaks between your classes, find a spot with a wall plug and post up. I usually watch Netflix during my breaks and occasionally finish up assignments that I was too lazy to finish the night before. Remember to bring headphones so you can listen to music without bothering others (or you can just pretend that you're listening to music so no one will bother you). Since you'll be draining your battery, be sure to bring your laptop and phone chargers.
One major aspect that you need to get used to in college is that scantrons aren't supplied anymore. In high school you're handed free sheets before your test but in college you need to cough up .25 cents. Sucks, right? Be sure to bring a No. 2 pencil as well. (Any pencil will work as long as you make dark marks). Also, be sure to have any other test essentials with you including calculators and/or notebooks and books if it's an open note test.
